We’re coming close… very close! Almost two days until it all starts again for another year filled with books and papers. THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. I don’t know why, but I’m excited for this day. SO excited that I’ve turned into a complete insomniac. I think it’s because I get to start fresh, go in there with a smile, my hair all proper and accessories on my arms and neck that I won’t be wearing three months down the line during exams. Also, I’ve seen my friends during the summer, but now I get to see them all together, every day.
To make sure this special day goes smoothly, I need to plan ahead. My hair, my wrists, my fingers, my neck… MY FACE. As the wheels are turning in my head, I’m going to type out how I’m going to look and the readers out there who are going to be uniform clad soon as well can maybe get some ideas.
HAIR
My hair is naturally wavy/curly, long and layered. Currently, my hair is straight as I was recently at the hairdresser’s. Will it stay straight and clean by the time school starts? If yes, my hair will be down accessorized with the american apparel navy blue twist headband. Should my hair be curly, it will be in a side ponytail resting in front of me on my shoulder tied together with the twist headband rapped around like an elastic. Here are pictures from the american apparel website of the twist headbands and the way my hair will be styled (they were also in my last post: Back To School Hair Accessory Fix.) Side note, keep in mind that in the last picture (the one with the girl wearing the headband like a hair tie), my hair will not be straight like hers is.
FACE
Seeing as I can’t wear makeup to school, I’m simply going to enhance my facial features with barely noticeable beauty products.
Eyebrows: I had them done recently so all I have to do now is style them with my spoolie brush, and then add eyebrow gel to them so that the wind won’t alter their shape.
Eyes: I will apply the smallest amount of mascara to my lashes so that they make my eyes pop out because they will be darker than normal. Don’t forget to make sure your lashes aren’t clumped together if you try this. A mascara that is good to use for what I’m going to do with my eyes is “The Colossal” (non-waterproof) by Maybelline. It doesn’t make your lashes look fake or insanely long; it just darkens and lengthens them in the slightest way.
Cheeks: I simply want to create a shadow on my cheekbones so that they will be very apparent and high up. What I DON’T want to do is put a red colored powder that will look like there is something on my cheeks. I’m going to use a TARTE COSMETICS cheek stain. It’s in the form of a gel and is unbelievably easy to apply. All you have to do is swipe it along your cheekbones, rub it in and voila! THE PERFECT SHADOW!! I own the “Blushing Bride” which happens to be purple… In the container. On your skin it doesn’t come out that way, don’t worry.
Lips: My lips get so chapped that I’m simply not in the mood to wear a lipstick/gloss that will dry and fade out in all of ten minutes. On top of that, I want something that smells good for an extra “UMPH”. That’s why I’m choosing to use a lip balm, yet not just any lip balm, a FRESH sugar lip balm. OVERUSE of the word lip balm 😛 It contains SPF 15, is unbelievably soft and smells heavenly.
Hands/wrists/ears:
I’m going completely Tiffany & Co. For this day. A tiffany “I love you” ring will be on my finger, however, it’s not entirely an “I love you ring”. It’s the same style exactly, except engraved on it is: New York with the address of the original Tiffany Store. I couldn’t get a picture of mine, so I’ll just post the one that says, “I love you”.
My earrings will be the mini heart tag earrings, however, I have second holes and a helix piercing, so those will be filled with other earrings from a jeweler.
On one wrist I’ll have my Pandora bracelet and a white SWATCH watch. On the other will be a Tiffany heart tag charm bracelet.
I’ve decided not to a wear a necklace for this event, as the focus will be on other pieces. I will also have bare nails, as I want to look clean and silvery.
I hope this post will give you a good idea of how I’m going to look on the first day back at school and how you could look even with a uniform. If some of the things I put on here seem a little expensive, it’s because I saved up for most of them for a while. They are the items I cherish and stared at in shop windows for years. I encourage you to save up for the items you yearn for so that your back to school moment will be even more fulfilling.
